Foundation-OCCRP partnership supports investigative journalism in Malta
17 May 2023
The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation is partnering with OCCRP to support investigative journalists and journalism in Malta. A new investigation project that launched today is the first in a series of projects the Foundation will be supporting with research and investigation coordination.
The new investigation is a deep dive into the financial flows in the Malta hospitals privatisation deal. The project is the result of a collaboration involving OCCRP, Times of Malta, The Shift News, and Irpi Media that spanned several months, and involved multiple countries and thousands of financial records. It is difficult to overstate the importance of the hospital privatisation story, one that Daphne Caruana Galizia began reporting on in 2015.
